In this class you will learn about the three major tea-growing regions of India:

Darjeeling, Nilgiri, and Assam. Taste the floral character of Darjeeling, known as the 

'champagne of teas'. Enjoy the brisk, full-bodied flavor of Nilgiri tea from southwest India,

and finally, enhance your knowledge of Indian teas with the "malty" aroma and flavor of Assam tea, 

frequently used in black tea blends. Attendees will take home a sample of Kangra tea from

a little-known tea-growing region of northwest India.

Judith Leavitt formed TalkingTea LLC, a tea education company, to share her passion for tea and the tea lifestyle. In 2019, she received a copyright on her Periodic Table of TalkingTea©. She published Talking Tea: Casual Tea Drinker to Tea Connoisseur and Talking Tea Journal: Tea Lover’s Tasting Notes in 2020, and in 2024 she published Oolongs: Partially Oxidized Teas with Complex Aromas and Flavors. Judith teaches tea classes online and in-person for senior centers, libraries, and other groups, including: Introductory and Advanced World of Teas, Single Estate Teas, Herbals and Tisanes, Teawares, Exploring Oolong Teas, Four Indian Tea Regions, and Ten Chinese Tribute Teas. She also offers personalized tea tastings for individuals. She received the Apprentice Tea Sommelier designation from the renowned tea expert James Norwood Pratt and has completed tea classes through the World Tea Academy.
